Hope someone can name all the elephants in this picture. And wonder how of them are still around. Thanks!

Jap, Myrtle, Jenny, Lucy, Cutie, Trixie, Luna, Hank, Charlie, Tommy, Mary, Maude, Norma, Bessie, Konti, Tex, Nellie, Virginia, Calcutta, Mysore, Rosie, Eva and Butch.

The last three survivers were Tommy (King Tusk), Bessie and Konti and even they have been gone for some time.

Calcutta and Mysore didn't live long and are not to be confused with Tony Diano's elephants of the same name with Diano Bros. Circus in 1953.

I thought they might be. after doing the math, the ages seemed right. just fyi, bessie was retired to a theme park in oct 2002. i spent a week off the road taking care of staff/herd introductions. she is alive and well, enjoying retirement; i stopped by to see her in aug this year.

Whatever became of the old Barnum&Bailey elephant "Jap" aka Japino?
She was the subject of the 1936 scientific study by Francis Benedict.
I remeber about 20 years ago the editor of ELEPHANT wanted to know.
She was famous as the elephant saved by President FDR ,from the glue factory.

"Jap" died on the lot in Springfield, Ill. with the Dailey Show in 1948.

Was Jap buried,or was her hide and skeleton(and possibly soft parts) preserved for science?
If so,would you know where?
thank you
