Col. Tim McCoy #2

I have read in Bandwagon how this show came about in 1938 but the details escape me. In any event it was built brand new from Hoof to Helmet, must have cost a fortune to frame and it was an immediate failure.

Buckles, Have any idea who the booking agent was for this show? Jim

No I don't but whoever it was had a short career, I believe it opened and closed in Wash. D.C.

There is still an old railroad car, stock I believe, rotting away in northeast Washington, DC. The last I knew it was over grown with trees and in very bad shape. I know that Bob Robinson and some other model builders did know where it was.

John Goodall said: Tim McCoy put together a 40-car wild west show in 1938. The investment was $400,000. The show opened in Chicago at the International Amphitheatre, April 14 - 23. A lot of money was lost, followed by poor business in Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati. They limped to Washington, DC for a May 2 opening and they folded on May 4, 19 days after setting out.

As part of a collection I inherited, I have on Carson & Barnes letterhead, a letter written in longhand on both sides of one page, by Col. Tim McCoy. He signed his name in mid-paragraph on page one, and signed it again in closing, on the reverse. It's for sale, and when I find the right buyer, I'm gonna open a Wild West show in D.C.
