Von Bros. Circus 1965/ Big Show band #1

Jimmy Cole and I both enjoy hard core circus music. He sent me these pictures he took of Von Bros. in 1965 and commented on the outstanding band directed by Charles Weathersby seen seated behind the drummer.
As opposed to Big Apple you got as many tunes as you wished and the astute observer will notice that no sheet music was required.

I also had the pleasure of working with "King"Charles and his band on the 73 Hoxie show. never any music books..all you had to do is tell him what tunes you wanted and they played away. If I remeber right, the drummers name was frankie, he was severely cross eyed but never missed a beat or rim shot..Mr. Watts was about 80 then and was the trombone man, The rags they played for the clowns were show stoppers. They were great ! Charles was also the arrow man. Lee

I believe that King Charles was out with Hendricks Bros this season.
