Rhoda Royal Circus 1920/ "Muggins" and "Carrie"

Here are the other two elephants "Muggins" and "Carrie" (named after Carrie Royal).
Some of you may remember "Carrie", she was later owned by Andrew Downie, from him to 101 Ranch Wild West (the Ranch herd), then Cole Bros. Circus and was with Hoxie Tucker as late as 1972.

Buckles, It may seem strange to some non circus people why elephants had so many owners. Now we understand that circuses changed names, some went under, owners died, etc. The elephants alway had a good home, and a place to go. I have always believed that an animal needs to be socialized by being around many dieeerent placesd and people. It keeps them from being skidish in strange places and different people. Dog shows for one. I had trained three pets to show in obedience test. They did perfect here at home, but take them in public and it was a mess. I also learned to train on different surfices(sic) as my poodle refused to sit on cold tile floors after being trained on carpet. I blew entry fees, etc. I know this is not elephant training. but just to tell about why some times different places and people can make a world of difference.
