Big Modoc

This is the earliest picture I have of the Patterson elephants, no idea who the trainers might be but the "powerhouse" looking elephant at left is probably Modoc, having been purchased from Leon Washburn and who would later become famous with RBBB. She remained with Patterson touring with his various enterprises and was included in the sale of the Gentry-Patterson Circus to Floyd and Howard King in 1926. Floyd King's final railroad show (Cole Bros.) folded in 1930 and at the show's auction Modoc was immediately bought by the Ringling Show and shipped to the Peru Qtrs. then to Sarasota in the Fall.
