Gollmar Bros. Circus 1908-09 #1

What a shot, right out of "Toby Tyler".
These last two pictures can be dated by the size of the elephant herd (11) with the addition of the "Forepaugh Dancing Eight" leased from their cousins the Ringlings.
They were recalled in 1910 when the 4-Paw-Sells Show was revived.

Another shot of the same herd.
My dad wrote on the back: "Gollmar Winter Quarters in Baraboo Wis."
All I can make out of the writing below is is 1908.
This looks like the wrong time of year unless they were playing Baraboo later in the season. I see some paper in the background.
The eight Ringling elephants would have been wintered at at the Water St. Quarters.

A fine afternoon!

Barbara and I just returned from Carol and Bill Hall's annual luncheon at the Hilton Longboat Key Beachfront Hotel.
As always a good turnout, off the top of my head I can mention Sue and Rudy, Peggy Mills, Elvin Bale, Adam Hill, Ada Smiega, Bello and Jenny, the Smirnovs, Hugo Zacchini, Siegrid, Tina and Mark Oliver Gebel, the Ingrassias, the Rikers, the Orrs, Ernest Albrecht and a bunch more that will come to mind as soon as I post this.
A good time was had by all.
