More Movin On! #3

The story line was the truck was stolen while the drivers were eating at a Truck Stop and abandoned after discovering an elephant was inside.
After making the recovery, this is Ben being hoisted up in a supposed state of panic.

I'm sure some of you old timers will recognize this truck from Venice, the movie people painted out RBBB.

Yup it was part of Dick Brown's

"Flying Fleet" driven by his team

of highly trained security staff

headed up by Vance

I'll never forget the time Dick threw a television at me because he was angry about the Clown College students.

Among the select elite of Dick's "security staff", were shady, highly suspect, or outright crooked cops, fired from their former jurisdictions, who "retired" to Florida, and gravitated into welcoming positions at Venice winterquarters. To qualify this fairly, it should be added this meant some, not all.

When Doc Henderson hired me out of Texas to work at Winter Quarters with him, Dick Brown wanted to make me part of his Security Staff and I laughed at him and said NO..

A few were known to handle late

night back gate equipment sales

Leading the sales staff was John

(can't remember last name) who

was discharged from the military

on a "medical" & had a bad limp

& jerky head movements

Dick had a fairly thankless task

& not much of a budget for staff

He was ex military & ended up as

a bridge tender on the South end

of Venice island

After the television incident and I had the clown students ("clown thingies as Dick called them")clean up the mess we got on well...even had dinner with him and his wife Nancy at their home.

Nancy took care of some of the

food service for events in WQ

She was even given credit in the

clown college graduation program

Come to think of it both Venice

draw bridges were controlled by

circus retreads as Schwartzie

was on the North bridge

Just remembered that John's last

name it was Falconer perhaps Gary

(or anybody) might remember him

He was truly a character
