New Circus Musical #1 (From Raffaele de Ritis)

DSCF2433[2], originally uploaded by bucklesw1. So, finally Miss Boccoli debuted officialy at the circus... Moira Orfei's new show "Una tigre per amore" opened in Milano last week (you posted the poster the other day). This is a true "circus musical", starring Brigitta Boccoli and Stefano Nones, with plot, acting, original songs, costume changes, live band, and dancers. It is a love story of a prince beng transformed in to a tiger by a witch. The cast incorporates top acts as juggler Shirley Dean (Don Matinez's daughter) and Gerd Koch liberty horses. Mrs.Moira herself made an appearance in the ring after years with a brief apparition. The unusual concept and Miss Boccoli's tv popularity are attracting huge crowds to the circus at his full capacity. The show will then be in Rome in December.

I have enjoyed browsing your blog for all the great photos and history you post there. I'm from Brownsville, Texas and putting together a little history of my own about a hometown boy, Manuel King. I have some images which might fit on your blog. Below is a little introductory to the material. Keep up the good work. I have learned quite a bit thanks to you and your friends such as Dave Price, a.k.a. "Ol' Whitey." ************************************************************************ In the summer of 1933, Manuel King met John C. “Chubby” Guilfoyle who came to the “Snakeville” wild animal farm in Brownsville, Texas after being hired by Manuel’s father W.A. “Snake” King. Chubby was hired to train animals for Hollywood films [i.e. Murders in the Zoo (1933)] and circuses. He also trained Manuel King to become “The World’s Youngest Wild Animal Trainer.” Manuel and Clyde Beatty appeared together in Darkest Africa, the first movie serial by Republic Pictures. An unknown party typed on the back of this picture: "When Eugene Scott, animal trainer, got married in 1930, he was wed at Spencer Park in Logansport, Indiana. He and his bride were inside the cage with a snarling tiger. Note they both keep an eye on the beast during the ceremony."
