Was Stella smaller than Lydia
They were about the same size, too small actually.
When they came over they boat they had to be already weaned to survive the long shipment by boat.
At this point they were flown over in a matter of hours and the smaller they were the less cost on freight.
Fortunately my wife came up an oatmeal concoction containing secret herbs and vitamins that could be fed by bottle that worked fine for us.
I Have to differ with Buckles on the size of the two bulls. From the pictures I saw of Lydia, she was much larger than Stella. They told us Stella was six months old. There was no way she was that old. She was no more than four to six weeks old. I would put money on it. She had NO TEETH and lots of hair. Smokey Jones always said that the hair was the sign of being younger. All of the elephants that I saw come into Gonzales, Tex. were bigger than Stella, except Butch. But Butch was never healthy. She had Liver flukes. Stella would not have made it if Buckles & I had not just lived with her in the truck, and the formula that I mixed up. The basic was calf milk replacer. Then I mixed all of my other things, too many to list here. I gave my formula to Smokey when he got Tiki......Barbara......
