I didn't know that Lydia was on Vargas. Can you elaborate on this ? Could you share a C&B herd list from 1980 ? Love all the elephant posts this past week.

This notation surprised me too.
As I now recall, Wally Ross played a hand in this and her stay there was quite exciting.

She died with David Tesch about a year and a half ago. An old girl to be sure. I believe the oldest elephant t in America now is the former Diano cow "Mysore," living out her retirement in central
Florida with Ringling. Damn near 70 if not already.

I don't remember any new elephants coming to the Vargas herd in '85 unless it was the end of the year.

She was a tough one on other elephants. When Bobby had her she knocked Shrilly over in her chains and pulled her shoulder out. Bobby had to retire her to the Shreveport Zoo where she was for over 25 years before they took her to Scott's in Arkansan. On Vargas she would have meet back up with Steve AKA Hog Jaws
