Harriett Beatty #1 (From Joey Ratliff)

Hi Buckles, I'm in the spirit today so here are a
couple of more "Beatty family" pictures. Is that your
father working "Anna May" in this picture?
Thanks.

Joey

"That's probably Eddie Allen. This act was thrown together almost overnight and I remember hearing that during the dress rehearsal at the Chicago Coliseum "Anna May" went right thru the arena and back to the picket line. For some time afterward she was accompanied by another elephant that stood outside the arena as a steadying influence."

Good turnout at the Club. Cinco de Mayo night, good Mexican food and music.
Afterward in the bar the big topic of conversation was the Carson & Barnes Circus. The highlight of the evening was the antics Cincy and Roy's twins, what a pair of beauties.
On the other hand, right at the crucial point of one of my stories, Dale and Mrs. Riker passed our booth and I overheard him say "I forgot to bring my boots!"

my understanding is that this clyde beatty-trained act (with some help on getting anna may to work with the cats) is that this is the only act that we know of that featured both a lion and a tiger riding an elephant at the same time. there have been several tiger riding elephants and a few lion riding elephants, but has anyone else put both animals on an elephant at the same time?

Jimmy Reynolds was with Cole when the incident with the elephant took place. He said none of the elephant hands were cat men and they had to lead the elephant without backing up, so they didn't know what the cats were doing and it was disconcerting. Allen had to do cause he was the captain. Little hairy.
