The Rice Bros. and Dan Rice titles were used by Ray Marsh Bryon in the '30s. Historian Joe Bradbury produced a story about these shows for Bandwagon a few years back. He didn't mention it directly but got the impression that these shows carried a lot of grift.
Brydon [not Byron] also had six different titles on his show, a not uncommon practice for one showman in our own time. Imagine, someone will likely try and write a story about him sixty years from now.
Rice Bros Circus - 1934 Howard King, proprietor; 1935-36 Ray Marsh Brydon, proprietor.
The title was first used by Don K. Rice in 1906-07.
Dan Rice's Circus - 1936-37 Ray Marsh Brydon, proprietor. The title was first used by Dan Rice himself 1848-79.
Adam Forepaugh owned the Dan Rice circus for several years in the 1860s. He paid Rice $1,000 per week for about 27 weeks. That was as much money as the President of the US made at the time. Think Bello earns as much as Bush these days, or more?
