Hey Erik,
Hailing From The Brittish Isles,
crumpets are small,yeast-raised breads. They are made in crumpet rings, which are 4 inches in diameter and about 1 inch deep If you cant find them in Kansas, you can use a 6 1/2 ounce tuna can with the top and bottom lids removed.
The batter is made of flour, eggs, milk, and a small amount of lard. The unsweetened batter is poured into the crumpet rings and cooked on a griddle . The finished crumpet has a smooth, brown bottom and a top riddled with tiny holes (much like a pancake before you flip it).
Crumpets are then toasted whole(unlike english muffins which are split) they are spread with butter or clotted cream and jam.
p.s. crumpet can also be used as a slang word for a woman, i.e. shes a nice bit of crumpet.
p.s.s. crumpet also has vulgar applications towards women. Wade Burke might have info on that.

Is it anything like a "sticky wicket"?
Derrick,
Your informative bit on crumpets has sparked a wonderful idea! Instead of Starbucks in Kansas, I believe I will start franchising "Crumpets for Cowboys". What do you think? I'll put Chef PeeWee in charge of the bakery and hire Wade for my PR man. I will handle human resources, hiring all the tarts to take care of the sticky wickets.

P.S. Send tuna can!
D.R.R.,
Far as I knew a crumpet was something to eat. The one English women I had the pleasure of spending some time with, was so shrouded in secret's and mystery, eventually I even doubted she was really British.
What's a "cow bag", by the way?

Eric Jaeger,
Super idea!!! Count me in. Square Pee Wee away first. He can't be calling me a %$#&*&^ing first of may, as I'm turning the tip. I will make me seem invalid, in my PR duties. Have him save it for the mark's or customer's, if you will. They will eat up that kind of familiarization. I know a great person to help you with the sticky wicket deal.
Wade Burck
Love the photo of my mother -- one that I have in my collection, by the way...Michael Clausen Andersen
