This mechanical contraption would have been suitable for training astronauts. You can ride similar three-degree motion devices at various venues today. Looking at the signage, and the purported 1956 date suggests that some enterprising showman may have appropriated the famous Luna name for another ride operation twelve years after the original operation went up in flames. The "new" adjective has been way overworked in the subsequent decades.
this was called the Gyroglobe at Kyrimes New Luna Park (1955). The park also had a Looper Plane, Speedboats, Ferris wheel, Whip Hurricane and seven kiddie rides. Info from Jeffrey Stanton's web site of Coney Island historic rides and attractions here
Seems like "purported" needs to get their facts (or lack of) straight. The ride was called The Gyroglobe, without the trailing title of the name of the "park" (within the confines of Coney Island). Luna Park had it's name long before the Gyroglobe showed up. The burning of the Tunnel of Love was the big headliner for the fire. The date of 1956 is accurate. Another ride that could pound your teeth was the 1st rendition of the "Mighty Mouse". A roller coaster that would make all of the formidable coasters of its day look like a walk in the park. With it's small cars and short angled turns, it really packed a punch. It too was at Luna Park.
