Pigmy Elephants #1

I find this back and forth about Pigmy elephants quite remarkable, I had no idea there was such a thing.
Here is one of the "pigmies" imported and greatly bally-hooed by the Ringling Show in 1936.

The so called pigmy elephants on the Ringling show were made up by the press department as the following picture clearly show.
It was sure a good come on.

Richard Reynolds says - -

This forest elephant (“pygmy” to Roland Butler) is the female Pourquois, called Puqua for short by the elephant guys. Note the very rounded ears which are typical of the species. The male of the trio, Congo, really showed the distinguishing physical attributes - - long thin tusks pointing straight down and very rounded ears. There are not many photos of Congo because he lasted only one year (1936) on RBBB.
