Anither terrific set of photos again today Buckles. Really, the band were the unsung heroes of each and every performance. These members excelled at their trade. You would be hard pressed to find enough good band members nowadays to keep every circus on the road with a live 10 piece band. They were and are a special group. After 2 and 3 shows a day, 6 and 7 days a week for close to 2 or 2 and 1/2 hours at each performance, it's no wonder they were nicknamed the Windjammers.

Imagine buttoning up those band coats on sweltering days.
Russ Darr told me blowing his trumpet for a 2-hour-and-20-minute show was equivalent to 8 hours of ditch-digging.
Real musicians call it "payin your dues" and building chops
all the rest are just punks
I always figured I lost 6 to 8 pounds per show on the days it was in the high 90's. My shirt was soaked and it looked like I wet my pants.
And then a number of them would have to remain after the big show to play the "concert"
Plus don't forget the "Grand and Glorious Free Street Parade" A tooth knocker for the 'WIND JAMMERS"
