Here is a fascinating man to look up on the net. There's a lot of history about him, including treatments on his compositions.

As most of us know, he penned THE BIG CAGE in 1933, dedicated in honor of Clyde Beatty.

As a sidebar, on Monday (7/30), I once again visited Mr. Beatty's resting place in Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, and also paid my respects there at the gravesides of Parley and Ernestine Clarke Baer.

They call Sousa the march king, but Karl King was really the March King. His marches don't all sound the same.
