It's people like Gary and kari Johnson, Geary and Barbara Byrd, kenneth Feld, Charlie Gray that are going to allow there to be circus elephants in years to come
Very nice. I think that 2006 may be the first year when live births hit target numbers for sustaining a viable managed Asian elephant population in domesticity in North America. If indeed populations can be sustained, the case is much stronger for AZA members and others to tell the likes of Bob Barker to get stuffed.
Congradulations! Kari and Gary who could ask for a better gift than this.
Bob Barker would not know an elephant if he saw one. I love how these biddys drag out the old has been hollywood types to premote their agenda. Talk is cheap from a sound stage.

The USDA ask for comments on elephant care. carol buckley wrote a F*&^H9g Book. As usual writing it to death. She in her usual way bad mouthed Murrays son. Murray wrote a very nice piece on elephant care to the USDA. She also stated the USDA forced JC to give her his elephants. That is an out and out lie. He donated the elephants. He got the last laugh as he did not give her a dime, which she assumed he would have to. If she worked as many mericals as she claims to, there would be no use for the USDA, Zoos and other governments to be involved. Saint carol???? Give me a break.
I believe Smokey did train "Tara the Rollerskating Elephant" for Ms. Buckley.and she never did become "holier than thou" when she found out she could not make a living working Tara in the circus,she figured out another way to make a living with elephants.The whole thing is a total scam.She doesn't even believe her droll bullshit. But she had such an easy time fooling her half-wit boy friend and her girlfriend she realised she was a much better actress than she is an animal person.Besides there's a lot more money being a scam artist than being an elephant trainer.If you don't believe me research her history,and then take a look at her ace student,Tippy Hedron,who pulled the EXACT same scam and formed Shambala and "rescued" all the animals from herself,after she won them and the property in a hard fought divorce settlement from ex-husband Noel Marshall.They purchased and bred all those animals for the making of the movie "Roar" then found out they couldn't make a buck with them any other way,she "rescues" them ala Carol Buckley.It's an old scam,one of the first being Pat Darby,who had the first national "Mercury Cougar" and when she lost her contract and couldn't get work for her cats,and her husband was shot rustling cattle to feed them she starts a "sanctuary" and goes around telling the world that those mean people in the animal industry,that wouldn't work with her because she was a dangerous nut-case,should all be put out of business by the government. OK let's revue : all three women bought animals to get into the animal business,all three women went broke not being able to make a living in the industry,all three women start "Sanctuaries" to make a bundle of money with animals.
the amazing thing is that these three actresses are able to convince so many people that they are "genuine" and NOT actresses !
the government is supposed to protect the public from scam artists,but seems to really fallen down in this arena.
Now I am not asking anyone to change their belief just because I laid it out as such a simple con. But I do ask people to do their homework and investigate the backgrounds of these three very wealthy actresses before buying more tickets to their"show"

Most honest artical I have read in ages. I can not believe you spelled CIRCUS wrong!!! I am noted for spelling my own name wrong, when I remember what it is from one day to the next. A lot of times my heart speaks before my mind wakes up. I think we get our point across no matter what.
