Big Modoc #1


I got quite a bit of reaction over my Ralph Helfer/Modoc tirade and have been asked for more details on "Big Modoc".
She was originally imported in 1905 to the Washburn & D'Alma Circus (LeonWashburn).
This would be Modoc standing at left in 1909 and now owned by James Patterson and she would travel with such shows as "James Patterson Shows", "Gollmar Bros.-Patterson Circus" and "Gentry Bros.- Patterson Circus".

I lost my comment. This Big Modoc looks too perfect to be real. Everything matches, If I could draw a picture for kids to show an elephant I would draw her. Beautiful.
