The twister here has an uncanny resemblance to the Clyde Beatty poster in this series.

QUEEN OF THE AIR author Dean Jensen reminds us us, as CHIC enters, the name was first spelled Lietzel, but later was changed to Leitzel.

But we have pronunciations that 3 factions of devotees insists is correct. One demands that since in the current spelling the "e" precedes the "i", the name is pronounced LITE-zel. A second group adheres with the original spelling, having the "i" before the "e", compelling us to say it as LEET-zel. My late historian pal, Leonard V. Farley, long-time curator of the Hertzberg, was adamant that the "e" is of the Church Latin pronunciation of "a", and he called her Lillian LAYT-zel.

Most folks have their own choice, but if it becomes too confusing, we can revert back to the name under which she was christened, on January 2, 1891--Leopoldina Alitza Pelikan. (Page 21 of Dean Jensen.)
