I told this story before but I love it so I'll tell it again. We were in some town I don't remember. It was after lunch cookhouse and we were sitting on the steps of Pat's house. There was some guy out by the front door spewing some AR crap. Pat asked if I wanted to have some fun and I said sure. She said we needed to look like a family going to the show so she grabbed Nick and we headed out the back and doubled back to the front. The guy was running his mouth about animal abuse and had a small crowd. Pat said just follow my lead. We walked up and joined the crowd listening to this idiot talk about how badly the animals were abused. Pat said she didn't believe the show would do anything like that. The guy started saying they had evidence. Pat said she really liked tigers and the guy said they had pictures of the guy who trained the tigers beating them. Pat said the guy was lying. He said it was the truth. Buy this time a rather large group had gathered and Pat dropped the hammer. She told the guy he was lying because she was the "guy" who trained the tigers. The guy said she was full of it and the tigers were trained by a man. Then Pat reached into her bag and pulled out a C&B program with her picture on the cover. Shut the guy up and the crowd followed the nice couple with their kid right to the ticket window. We went back to Pat's trailer and had a good laugh.

One more Pat story. Some of you may know while she was at C&B Pat went to Florida to pick up a cub from Marcan. When she got there he was working a training session and asked her to work the chute. She did not notice that his cage allowed a paw to get through. She figured while she had her back turned to the cage the wind blew her hair and the cat took a swipe at it and raked her down her back. Off to the hospital where the Doctor was trying to assure her everything was going to be OK and not listening to this woman who he figured was in shock. She reached up grabbed him by the throat and said shut up and listen to me. She told him cat claws had manure in them and she needed antibiotics and not to stitch her up all the way but leave a drain. He nodded yes so she let him go. They put 400 stitches in her. There was always this unwritten rule anything under 50 you couldn't even mention. She won. When I first saw her after that she said, want to she my stitches? I said here? She said, sure. I've got polaroids. Boy they were gross. They were well worn, she must have shown them to a lot of people.

We worked with Pat on C&B in 1981 and 1982. As Richard has pointed out, she was fun to troupe with. A skilled and talented trainer and presenter and 100% with it and for it.
