Roy had been around awhile when he first hit it big as Popeye Doyle's cop partner in
THE FRENCH CONNECTION, for which Gene Hackman won Best Actor. And it was Roy who was cast by Spielberg as the mayor of Amityville in '75's cinema-changing JAWS. This was the picture which established the big summer blockbuster, and which gave us Roy's immortal line, "You're gonna need a bigger boat."
