#1 Woodcock Sr.

My father was surprisingly well read and would quote passages from Shakespeare and got me introduced to Gilbert & Sullivan.
I once heard Cap Curtis say to him, "Bill, how the Hell did a guy as smart as you ever get in this business!" a question a lot of people have been asked.

Very thoughtful retrospect and tribute. He'd be proud to see how his life lessons have endured.

Curtis realized what an intellect he was talking to. We know Col. Woodcock taught all the degrees of the Masonic Order to new men--and all of it had to be taught from memory. No one got to return to a page for reference, like an actor with his script. And in teaching the rites from memory, other Master Masons monitor the teacher to make certain not a single word is wrong, added, or deleted. Col. Woodcock had it all, and added the great works of literature, plus the exquisite details of circus history, especially elephants and wagons. We see very few like him. No wonder Cap Curtis asked that question.
