Memorial Day #7

Watched the movie M*A*S*H* yesterday and the setting looked exactly like this.

We had two ROK soldiers attached to our outfit, Lee Yong Key and Han Man Hee and both spoke pretty good English.
One day we came across some symmetric mounds of dirt with a bowl of rice placed on top of each.
Turned out these were graves and I was told, should the dead resurface they would be very hungry.
I explained that in America we placed flowers and then asked if they thought anyone would ever return to eat the rice and Lee replied, "The same day your people come back to smell those flowers."

Allow me to offer a salute of gratitude for your service. I only wish our younger generations had an idea of how important this day is.

Unfortunately, the lake, the river and the good times are all more important to way too many.

Happy Memorial Day!
Bob

Great Korean comment, a real bell ringer.
