Ending the "Draft" certainly was

the major change in the quality

& intelligence of our millitary

Not all but many who can't get a

job at Walmart or McDonald's

I agree with you Chic! When I got drafted in 1969, the average inductee was a lot smarter than the average enlistee today. Now it is sometimes the only job they can get.

Job? I always assumed it was a duty. Additionally it is a way to learn a trade and aid with school later, without the insane, outrageous, there should be a law against it, cost of a university education. A blue collar labor has an easier time finding a high paying job shortly after school, then doctors, lawyers, etc. They are the ones filling the McDonalds and Walmart job at the moment. What
ever the reason, we should say only "thank you", and shake their hand.
