Over sixty years ago, Keenan Wynn was in Nashville and someone talked him into making a surprise and unannounced appearance at Loew's Theater and doing "Guzzler's Gin," an old Red Skelton routine, between the pictures. He was very funny and I stayed over to see him again after the second show (which you could do in those continuous showing days).
Fast forward maybe thirty years and he was in Nashville doing an interview show and was asked if he'd ever been here before. He said no this was his first time here.
Shortly after that I ran into Snooky Lanson at a funeral- it had been Snooky who had introduced Keenan at Loew's and he verified my recollection.
And I had always thought playing Nashville was unforgettable!!!
Snooky was a DJ here before he got on the Hit Parade. I think "The Old Master Painter" was his first entry into the big time. Or was it "The Old Lamp Lighter?
He sang at the funeral I where I saw him, he being an old friend of that family. We had a nice talk about the old days.
I remember telling him how I had recently asked son John run into the hospital where Mary Jane worked to get her. He was about ten or eleven at the time and he said, "Hurry, Mom, Vaughn Monroe's on the radio."

Keenan Wynn.
Known to us old timers as Ed Wynn's son.
