Karmi was an American eccentric named Joseph Hallworth who began his career playing dime museums in the 1890s as “Razorette” or such. He married a German-born show girl and taught her to swallow swords. She was featured in the late 1890s on Buffalo Bill’s Wild West side show as Victorina.
