Army%20War%20Show-5, a photo by bucklesw1 on Flickr. The Army War Show eventually played Chicago, where, at one performance, it was seen by a crowd of almost 800,000 people. George Smith was brought back as Circus general manager in 1943 by the Ringling family after they had ousted JRN as president and replaced him with his cousin Robert. Smith lived to a ripe old age, passing away in 1986. Many of you reading this probably knew him and can provide more information about his career with the circus, which I understand went back to the days of Al Ringling.
