Hello Mr Woodcock,

Here are some pictures of Colonel Joe who died a few days ago. I had the chance to see him perform several times with Circus Krone in their 4000 seats tent and at the
Kronebau in Munich. I will never forget his presence in the ring. The Circus lost one of his most reprensentative
icone. After Jumbo, the Colonel Joe is probably the most famous Circus Elephant in the world.

Best Wishes.

Vincent

Hello Wade,

From an American point of view you are certainly right. But like Jumbo, Colonel Joe was famous on both sides of the Atlantic. King Tusk was an American legend first. Everybody here in Europe is deeply saddned of Colonel Joe's death. He was not just an amazing Animal. He was the sympbol of Europe's lagest Show and the traditonal Circus.

Question to Wade or Buckles: did Tommy ever performed in RBBB Elephants acts or did he appeared in the specs only?

Colonel Joe was put to sleep at the Kronebau in Munich because of his aggravating feet problems. Circus Krone played the first three cities of their 2012 tour without Elefants. The herd stayed with Colonel Joe at the building until his death. They should now join the Show for their next date in Offenburg.

I'm told he was euthanized in a

zoo park "Platschow Elefantenhof"

about 100 miles East of Hamburg

Tommy was euthanized in Williston

Tommy wasa well trained circus elephant and preformed for many years most of late a lead of a five act under Lee kEENER. He eaSILY could have performed with Ringling [would have been good for him] but Ringling chose not to use him for that, so they totally isolated him from his herd bound mates and the rest is history. After years on the road, never missing a date or show he suddenly eruted in Japan aqnd when put back with the herd there he went back to being good old Tommy. Changing his handlers there as well beought him back. I worked alot of dates with O'Dell, Frank Dailey and Keener and Mary Ruth loved to ride him in spec. Diano never had an elephant empress until Keener stuck his wife in there. I believe Barbara Woodcock styled him in early Diano years and probably with Norma on Daily Bros.
