Good evening Buckles from the back yard of Dick Gardens Tented Show,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Col Joe. I used to put a massive stage howda
on Joe, complete with matching blanket and take Jan Bickerstaff in the center ring
for her trapeze entrance. Between his height and the elevation of the howda she was able to
jump up and grab the bar and begin her act. I am sure some where in the either there are pics of
her grand entrance.
I also searched for Joe for seven days just north of Lake Okeechobee and found him on the morning of the eighth.
It was quite an ordeal and the story is best told on a lazy rainy day with plenty of libation on hand.
As the song says "Those where the days my friend, we thought they would never end".

Requiscat in pace

All the best,

Frank Murray

Is the 3rd one to the left of Joe, "Gypsy"?...the reason I ask is it appears she has the lower strap pulled down below her left EyE and about to tear it off...Oh and on a side note, it looks like her also...

Zych,
LOL, LOL you picked up on that, too. I think it look's like her also. I guess well be "haunted" the rest of our life, pal. I looked twice to make sure it wasn't her who had the hose in the other picture.

To this day whenever I hear "Crash, Rip, smash, or kerplunk" I subconsciously automatically find myself saying "GYP!!!"...

Last week I had a water hose explode, dousing me. I immediately turned to one of my guy's that speaks some English and asked him, "did you see a pretty eared elephant any where around here today?" When he replied, "no, jefe" I told him, "well if you do, keep her away from the water hose's and come and get me right away. She's trouble."

Darryl, that sure does look like him? I worked with him for about a month before they sold him away from the zoo there. I went down there after I left the Blue and he was downing all the goofs at the Central Florida zoo..
