On May 10, 1962, 15 year old Jimmy Cole (me) skipped school and went up to Fall River, MA to see the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus. Here are some of the very first circus photos I ever took: |

Those are some of the old textile mills in the background, which are so common to that city.
Mr Jimmy,
Thank you for sharing these photos with us.
I see from the get go at 15 you had that magic eye in photography.
Well done and truly the wonder city that moved by night.
I can remember my younger days seeing Beatty Cole with Mr. Circus, Clyde Beatty fighting for his life in that cage of fury.
That cannon shooting a man out of it and making the tent bellow.
Many long time memories.

I used my dad's Brownie 127 camera for these photos. I had trouble holding it steady, so I remember placing it on a tent stake to keep it steady.
Jimmy,
You at 15 invented the mono pod using a tent stake to steady the camera.
Those old brownie cameras had a shutter speed of about 1/15 of a second and any movement blurred the photo.
Kodak's moto you press the button and we do the rest.
I am still sad over Kodak closing the door on the gold standard of film KODACHROME.
Still a great job and thanks for the photos.

Very few things in life equal the enjoyment of SKIPPING SCHOOL to go see a CIRCUS.
