Under Lightoller’s direction and despite the bitter cold, a mixed bag of survivors manage to keep their overturned lifeboat balanced by leaning to the right or the left in unison to counteract the swell. (This scene is based on what actually happened rather than on some scriptwriter’s imagination.) |

Just as there are organizations for circus fans, there is an organization for TITANIC enthusiasts: THE TITANIC HISTORICAL SOCIETY, which has been in existence since 1963. Their website can be found at http://www.titanic1.org/membership/index.asp.
Incidentally, tonight (April 14th), one of San Diego’s restaurants is offering a “Last Dinner on the Titanic” event that will serve the same 10-course dinner that was eaten by first class passengers (including, presumably, Albert A. Stewart) on April 14th, 1912. The cost is $212 per person. If you’re interested in attended (or in reading what all was on the menu for that last dinner) here is a link that gives full details:
http://www.sandiegofoodfinds.com/2012/03/on-april-14th-centennial-anniversary-of.html. (I wonder if the $212 includes multiple doggie bags for whatever can’t be eaten at the one sitting?)
This excellent movie will be shown on TCM tonight 10:00 eastern time.
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER is on TCM tonight. A new outing, also titled TITANIC, is on ABC tonight. Depending on your time zone, they're both worth an evening.
