Readily available today in the collectible market are figures from the Humpty Dumpty Circus made by the American firm of A. Schoenhut and Co. from 1903 until 1935 (a later version by another maker was produced ca. 1950-52). The popular circus toy grew to include more than 60 animals and performers, made with elastic and ball joints that could be arranged in realistic poses. Unlike many other toys of the time, this circus toy was intended for use by both boys and girls, and it was marketed as such. This was an innovation in the toy industry, which even today markets most toys to one gender or the other.

Happy holidays to all as each of us continues to enjoy in all forms that ageless delight, the circus.

I haven't been on here for a while and this is all old news now, but I actually own this lion cage wagon with lion and tiger, two horses to pull it and driver. They made a band wagon, six musicians, driver, four horses to pull, a show wagon, lower box type, and a chariot. I believe the show wagon came with two donkeys pulling it originally, not sure. I have the other two wagons also and the chariot, originals as they were my dads. He made a complete circus and so I have most of the animals, but not a couple. Great, great toys!
