In 1929 Buck and A. W. Copeland framed The Buck Jones Wild West Shows and Round Up Days, a 14-car railroad show with 267 people on the payroll. (Among the show’s performers were Montie Montana and Iron Eyes Cody.)

The Sherman Clay store where the tickets were sold was a piano company, which seems an odd place to sell Wild West show tickets, but perhaps they functioned as a general ticket agent as well as a music store. The company is still selling pianos.

Monty Montana was still very much around during my Jungleland era, and we'd see him at local events, close to 40 years after his Buck Jones days. He looked great and all his riding and Western performing skills were sharp. His Hollywood star wardrobe always stood out from the aging cowpokes and stuntmen, but he was well-liked and still had a following.
