| Another person whom O’Malley has targeted for revenge is his ex-girl friend Valerie (Marian Carr), who is now happily married to trapeze artist Armand St. Dennis (John Bromfield). The fawning attention shown by O’Malley to Valerie’s and Armand’s little girl Kathy adds a decidedly creepy element to the proceedings.

The little girl Kathy is the daughter of Eques. Director and versatile performer, singer Milonga and Johnny Cline. A number years ago her family preformed with their animal acts at CWM in Baraboo and Kathy stayed and lives in Baraboo. She did a fine job as a movie actress.johnny
Eric: I didn't read that as creepy- I thought Dublin was indicating that he (rather than the mother's husband) was the father of the child.
There seemed to be a vague threat of blackmail in his remarks, which the mother did not appreciate.
Early in the film, during O’Malley’s escape from the maximum-security mental institution, there are scenes showing him committing various acts of violence and at least one on-screen murder. This cunning, ruthless psychopath still gives one an uneasy feeling whenever he’s on screen, particularly when is he is around the little girl. This was undoubtedly the case in 1954 as well, and might have worked against the film’s being able to attract the same huge family audiences that flocked to see the DeMille film. Today, it would probably be rated PG.
