Two of the best you could know among showfolks. On Castle, in the winter of '71, they were the first to make me welcome. They had hundreds of friends all over the route, and I was grateful to be among them. I never knew better people around a circus.
Buckles might know more details, but it was well known that Bert once either trained or re-routined a major act of adult elephants, and never put a hook boil on a single one.
I'm not sure what act that would be but it was general knowledge that Bert wasn't heavy handed.
