Here is the Indian rhino back scratching encounter at San Diego zoo, available through its Backstage Pass. Two Indian rhinos are involved, brothers Soman and Surat. They relish the scratching.

San Diego zoo's Indian rhino breeding program has been unbelievably successful. The "herd" if we may call it that is kept at the Zoo's Wild Animal Park, in the San Pasqual Valley. From 1972 to 2008 they produced 56 calves, a feat once thought impossible. Remember, that's a 16-month gestation period, second only to the elephants among land mammals.

San Diego's Indian rhinos have been sent all over the world. Even so it had been possible to see as many as 16 of them together at the park at one time.
