I agree about Robert Baudy's act. He played the Melha Shrine date for Frank Wirth in West Springfield, Mass., near where I grew up. I'd seen Beatty and Pat Anthony so it was the first European-style (non-fighting) act I ever saw. It was stylish and he had the tricks but he was never on the road for very many years. When Baudy did the "stare down" with this big male tiger, they stood transfixed maybe ten seconds, then he slowly reached for his dagger and when it was half drawn from it's scabbard the tiger would return to his seat.

I would like very much to have the
opportunity to catch his act as
well as the entire performance
I need to look up (or maybe some
kind soul could send) the route
Just in case anyone might care
my alltime favorite cat acts are
Clyde Beatty
Charly Baumann
Jean Charles Zerbini
Wolfgang Holzmair (w/ Pio Nock)
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Robert Baudy's tiger act.
Both my dad and I thought is was tremendous.

I loved the Keller act. When I saw it it was worked by Bill Horne. A real mix and a good presentation.

I only saw Baudy work once & it
wasn't his best night so I can't
really be fair but Jean Charles
had a fantastic stare down with
Royal (a tremendous neutered male)
perched on a side seat with one
of the deepest toned growls ever
Maybe the highlight of the routine
Damn I learn new things every day from you people. Seriously.
