In pink on the lower side of the photo, flanking the couple (blue/blonde) are the Gaonas. Lower right, checkerboard pant, Kochmanski (sp?) the comedy bareback rider from Poland?
I'm taking a guess because the photo is dark.
The cake tiers telescoped and fireworks erupted from the candle tube on top. 40 years ago this was something else, comparable to one of those over-fireworked rock concerts of today.
Kochmonski was a nice little guy and a good clown. He had a dog that worked with him and was a pet sas well and always with him. He wasba fine bareback rider and did a bit where he sat on a chair on the horses back and read a newspaper while the horse did a perfect cantor. He was a good guy. Very quiet and unassuming. Part of the Polish contingment.

Anyone know why the trapeze net was still up during the finale? ~frank
that was the cannon act net, not the trapeze--Lally Zacchini was the closing act...
The net was probably for the cannon act which was part of the finale.
Agree. The cannon act was the blow-off of the Anniversary show.
Was that Emanual's X-15 blue semi
And Mike I believe that Kochmanski
did a comedy act with a big full
black maned male lion (perhaps in
prior years)

Chic,
Ada Smieya' husband worked with a lion.
I think this is the person you thought; he was Polish, too.
The fellow the did the comedy lion was the late Klaus Blasak, Ada Smeija"s husband (excuse the spelling). I think he performed in 1965.
Yup I knew that & in fact I worked
for Klaus & Ada (Adela) years ago
designing & creating all of the
technical equipment for their
"Stardust Circus" that opened in
Oxnard CA & only ran a short time
in a few cities (real shame)
It was a classy little 1 ring
traditional European style show
with a live band & show girls
I remember some of it very well
The majority of the acts were
from Poland as was my grandmother
