no, that's not Billy--i think it's Leon McBride. Billy joined the alley in 1970 and brought Ray, who was his protege, along. Ray's wife Alice was a showgirl. so Ringling got two experienced clowns, a good looking showgirl and a clown car in the package. Ray hung with Althoff, Bale & Co. Ray was a good little clown but his life later turned sour as we know. Billy bolted Ringling after the 1970 tour, later worked the office wagon on Beatty-Cole--Bill Ballantine had hired him as the Blue unit in 1970 was stocking up on seasoned clowns (of which there weren't too many, I guess) until Clown College could properly supply both shows. Duane Thorpe, Marc Athony, Otto, Prince Paul were all part of this memorable alley.

Would this be Ray Cuddy's car with Billy Griffin?
Wild guess.

Isn't this Duane Thorpe and Danny Chapman?
no Ray and Leon.

I'm pretty sure that's not Duane, I'm not sure if it's Danny. I blew the picture up as far as I could but it's a tough angle. ~frank
I would bet good money that it is Ray Cuddy's car.
