Hi Buckles:

Here is another picture of Norman receiving his MBE Medal from the Queen on June 9. 2010.

"I read that Laurence Olivier, arriving on the set of a new movie, after
being recently Knighted, was asked how he should be addressed.
He replied, "Out of respect for the Queen of England and the honor
bestowed, I expect to be introduced as Sir Laurence.
Once done you can call me Larry like always."
Buckles

Sue, what do the letters MBE represent?

Above, the link to the video of Norman Barrett on Zippo's Circus with his parakeets or as they are called in the UK, budgerigars.

Congratulations to Norman; a wonderful honor after entertaining generations of circus audiences.

Wow/Mr.Barrett
First time seeing this gent's striking appearance sporting the official red tails and black topper as the ambassador of the Big Apple Circus ring and also presenting his unusual parakeet act,my thoughts went to the movie My Fair Lady and that Rex Harrison had ran off and joined the circus.
A short time later showing with the greater (Vidbel Circus) I was kidnapped in the early morn by Mr. Woodcock totally unaware that we were next to the B.A.C.winter quarters while they were in rehearsals. Getting the five dollar tour and a visit to the cook house for a coffee and twinkie, I was introduced to this gent, Normand Barrett. A bit later I saw him stepping into the ring with Katja Schuman's horses. My comment to Mr. Woodcock was, "Boy that dude apparently knows his way around equine". I was then informed that he was sort of the Brits version of the Gunther/GWG in his younger day. Apparently an all around top notch animal trainer and presenter.
However; still not clear on what the M-B-E abbreviation stands for? My thoughts were the M-ost B-estest
E-ver. As time passed and photos of the past that I have seen of Mr.Barrett, I would like to convey my humble congratulations to him on this recent award.
A full (two thumbs up)
P.S.
I am sure that this award received
has surpassed the honor of the (Horsey drawn buggy ride) once missed in the Peru, IN Circus parade.
