Robert, I would have to give him an 11.
Hard to imagine the amount of time spent in the practice ring!
My career was solely spent presenting elephants however as a
youth I was an accomplished trampolinist!

Alby Perry Jr was terrific on the tight wire but even he will tell you that his Dad was better.

Alby Sr was offered a contract to go to Ringlings like Con Colleano but chose to stay in Australia with the family show.

If he had gone, Robert might be talking with a drawl now!!!

Towards the end of Alby Jr's wire-walking career the Moscow Circus came to Brisbane. It was arranged that some of the Russians would come out to the Perry's circus to see some Aussie acts. Alby practiced for days to put the flip- flap back into the wire act and to redo a standing back somersault on the ground. [He was still doing a feet to feet back on the wire, crutch drops and back somersault etc]. After all the sweat and pain you can imagine how he felt when the Russians failed to arrive.
