Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has officially broken ground for what will be the largest expansion in the history of Magic Kingdom Theme Park – Fantasyland. Just look at the images from the 1/4 inch dimensional model… it’ll be remarkable when completed. There will be four Disney classic-inspired areas or neighborhoods to explore. And one of the most unique offerings in those neighborhoods will be new interactive Storybook adventures with your favorite Disney princesses. And parents take note…Dumbo the Flying Elephant, a beloved MK Attraction, will take center stage on its own new mini land with the addition of a second attraction. You’ll be invited to take part in a series of interactive experiences inside an air-conditioned three-ring circus tent.
The expansion project is scheduled to be completed in 2013. |

Almost looks like the original plans for Circus World!
I guess the question that we're all wondering is... WILL THEY BE HIRING CLOWNS?!?
Probably no live performers, they tried that when Disneyland first opened with the Mickey Mouse Circus. They discovered that people don't come to the parks to sit through a show longer than 12-20 minutes. ~frank
Just gossip,
Son works at WDW – Magic Kingdom (4 years) and rumors abound.
There are tons of sketches and semi-pictures or rather representations
off-limits underground cast members working quarters.
He said that he almost can state that their will be roving clowns – but most likely all in-house so that they can be costumed and tailored in the Disney theme and according to the areas that they are assigned.
And probably at the standard hire in rates of around 9 to 10 per hour as most character, face and costume, characters are.
Did you know that costume characters are all members of the Teamsters Union?
(Come on Mickey – let’s go unload the truck)

There is talk on Broadway that Disney will be bringing "DUMBO" the musical to the Great White Way.
Perhaps this park attractions will tie in nicely with a hit show that will open on Broadway and tour for years.
Was in the NY Disney Theatrical
office recently reviewing the
remounting of their production
of "Aida" in Seoul Korea later
this year (I was there with it
a few years ago and will be
going back this fall) and the
"Dumbo" project is supposed to
be a big secret but we all
know how well that works
I've worked on 9 of Disney's
theatrical productions so far
and they have treated me well
A very different operation
than "Mouseschwitz"
