From Chris Berry THE LIFE OF BUFFALO BILL IN 3 REELS (1912) Perhaps the first real life "star" to appear in the movies with none other than Buffalo Bill - who appeared in a biopic in 1912. The film, produced by the Buffalo Bill/Pawnee Bill Film, was considered a long feature at the time (three reels) and was shown at Nickelodeon theatres, reinforcing the legend of Buffalo Bill - and featured silent star Pearl White in one of her first appearances on film. There have been no commercially reproduced copies of any of William F Cody's films. In fact, according to the Buffalo Bill Museum, there is a possibility that none of them exist in their entirety, but only as a reel here or there. The museum has one reel from the film The Life of Buffalo Bill in 3-Reels in their collection.
