Sure brings back memories. Big Apple Circus always played Charlestown in July, at the height of the tourist season for the Rhode Island beach communities. The lot was on the former runway of the decommissioned Charlestown Naval Air Station. It looked like we were out in the middle of nowhere, but thanks to the sponsorship of the local chamber of commerce, every show was packed.

2009 was the last year that Big Apple Circus played Charlestown. It does not appear on the route for 2010; the end of an era.
