The giraffes in the foreground are Nubians Edith and calf Gloria (born at Boston Garden on May 10, 1951).
In the background is Ingrid, a female reticulated that the show got in 1950. Lots of flap over that! The show got two imported retics. which were suppose to go only to a USDA qualified zoo because they were foreign born ruminants.
Jacksonville zoo was the supposed to be the destination but they went to Sarasota, an unqualified place. That died down and the show wound up hauling Ingrid on the road which was technically against the rules.
This photo was taken by show photographer Dick Miller.
