An interesing thing about the rocketship design on this cannon barrel is that the nose cone partially remained in place during the shot.
This was actually the 1st double repeating cannon, and had upper and lower firing chambers. During the last 15 - 20 years of it's use however, it was only used as a single shot cannon.
The rocket nose cone was spread apart on the top portion, whereas on the other Zacchini "rocketship" cannons, the nose cone was completley removed.
Hopefully someone will step forward and restore this magnificent piece of American circus history!
Jim Cole :
You Taken many Prized Photos !
Thanks for sharing them .
Kinda like the Jomar
This poor relic might be well
beyond restoration possibility
How sad
That is at Butch Zacchini's house isn't ??? Does any one have info on contacting him..I haven't seen or spoke to him for a few years...

Chic, It is still in restorable condition...at least it was 6 years ago when I took these photos.
A few years back my wife made
me take an oath to never do any
work on a cannon again

Looks like a great "location"
for some "end of the world" film
If this was 6 years ago I can
imagine the additional growth
