Notice the ring curb covers. I got promoted to Assistant Stage Mangier because of the way I neatly draped the ring. (And I polished up the handle of the big front door.)
We made several appearances on the Super Circus TV Show in the mid 1950's. In those days there was a large riding stable in down town Chicago where we kept the elephants. We usually pulled in a day early giving us a free evening. On one occasion I checked the newspapers and found the D'Oyly Carte was in town making an American tour. The program opened with "Trial by Jury" (a curtain raiser) and concluded with "Pinafore". I was delighted to discover that Sir Joseph had indeed "polished up the handle on the big front door!"

When they opened the big USL door
to get the train in the sunlight
POURED in & obliviated any attempt
at theatrical lighting
I also recall more leaks in the
roof than an OLD canvas top
