Ringling is in Hershey this week.
We have our tickets but someone told me that this is the same Blue show that was here last year. This does not make sense that they would bring the exact same show back a second year.
Can somebody clarify this? I don't want to sound foolish but I did not pay attention to the ads. Please let this be false.

Anonymous,
It is the blue show in Hershey rite now. If it was the blue last year then, it is prolly the same show. I know the show has something to do with the announcers hat and some penguins.

Damn, it is last year's show.
Why would they bring the same show back to the same town?
Doesn't make sense.

It's highly unusual for a circus production to play the same market in consecutive years but not unprecedented. The last time I remember it happening was when Atlanta was shifted from a first year city to a second year city and got the 122nd edition twice. There are a lot things that factor into routing (long term contracts, building availability, transportation, etc.) and this year the shows are playing several new buildings and moving other cities from the first year to the second (and vice versa).

The fact that Hershey is getting the same show it got last year probably has a lot to do with the situation in Philadelphia. The engagement there is much later this year than in recent years and I'm sure it was adjusted in response to the closure of the Spectrum where the show is playing for the final time this week. Next year the show will play the newer arena and will face the prospect of conflicts with basketball and hockey playoff games which has been an issue there in the past.
