The teeterboard acts provided an opportunity for Merle Evan to use his “Hungarian Goulash” medley that blended together several of the Brahms Hungarian Dances along with Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody. The Felds wanted Evans to transfer over to the Blue Unit and lend his celebrity status (but not necessarily his musical input) to the big 100th Anniversary Edition that would open in 1970. However, Evans retired at the end of 1969, no doubt realizing that the new management had no use for the type of music he did best. |
